Texture Pack Summary

Chroma Hills HD (128x) is one of the best-looking Minecraft texture packs I’ve ever used (though seriously outddated). It mixes high-quality, detailed textures with a soft cartoon style that still feels close to the original Minecraft look. The blocks, like ores, logs, and bricks, look amazing, and even things like glass and carpets have extra detail that makes them stand out. Weapons and armour are really well-designed too, especially the Netherite set with its black and red style. I also love how some mobs, like the Ender Dragon, Blaze, and Warden, have unique designs that still fit the Minecraft world. The HUD and UI even have custom touches, which make the whole pack feel complete and immersive.

But as much as I love Chroma Hills, it’s clear the pack hasn’t been updated in a long time. A lot of newer blocks and mobs like cherry trees, camels, and sniffers aren’t included, so parts of the game look amazing while others just feel plain and outdated. This makes it hard to enjoy the full experience. I don’t think it’s worth buying right now because it’s missing too much and with that in mind, it would be a 4 out of 10, but I think what HAS been updated is worthy of an 8 out of 10 in a bubble, because the parts that are finished are seriously impressive. I really hope the creators update it soon because this could easily be one of the best Minecraft texture packs ever.

Pros

  • High-Quality Textures: Many blocks like ores, logs, glass, and bricks are beautifully detailed and polished, standing out with a unique visual style.
  • Stylized, Not Overdone: The cartoon-inspired design is soft and balanced - stylish without being too cartoony or clashing with Minecraft’s vibe.
  • Impressive Armor and Weapons: Items like the netherite armor and trident are well-designed, with thoughtful detail and original flair.
  • Custom UI & Effects: Custom health, hunger icons, and animated ores (like redstone) add depth and try to make the pack feel immersive.
  • Strong Theming in Mobs: Mobs like the Ender Dragon, Blaze, and Warden are updated with unique, vanilla-inspired looks that fit the pack’s theme.

 Cons

  • Outdated Content: Many newer mobs (e.g., camels, sniffers) and blocks (e.g., cherry trees, pale oak) are missing or unchanged.
  • Inconsistent Visuals: Updated and default textures side-by-side can clash and break immersion.
  • No Recent Updates: The pack has clearly been left behind by newer Minecraft updates, reducing its overall value today.
  • Incomplete Mob Designs: Some mobs, like the chicken, are broken or not visually updated, weakening the experience.
  • Not Worth Full Price: Despite its quality, the missing content makes it hard to recommend at 990 minecoins without updates.
