Texture Pack Summary
I recently re-reviewed the Vividity Texture Pack by Noxcrew for Throwback Thursday, and I’ve got to say, it’s not really my style. Even though the pack promises “soft focus” textures and a magical, colourful feel, I found it to be very close to Minecraft's default look, just with a bit more colour and blur. Many textures felt noisy, overly blended, or unfinished. Some mob textures were broken due to the Spring to Life update, with pigs, cows, and chickens still showing their vanilla skins. While I liked a few elements like the Slime design, the Enderman’s purple glow, and the ocean monument’s prismarine bricks, most blocks and mobs just didn’t stand out. There were also weird inconsistencies with blur, colour, and shading across the pack.
I gave this pack a 5 out of 10. It claims to offer a fantasy and magical experience, but honestly, it felt too plain and uninspired to me. The villagers looked odd, the hostile mobs were mostly unchanged, and the armour and weapons were either copy-pasted or lacked detail. Even newer areas like the trial chambers and ancient city didn’t impress me much, and the nether and end textures leaned too heavily on the default style. While some may enjoy the subtle tweaks and soft palette, this one didn’t bring enough creative spark for me to recommend it. Still, if you're into light vanilla edits with a splash of colour, it might be worth checking out.
Pros
- Bright and Colourful Palette: The textures use a lot of pinks, purples, and soft tones to create a magical and cheerful vibe.
- Some Standout Mob Designs: The slime, Enderman, and camel had fun and creative looks that matched the pack’s theme.
- Nice Prismarine and Sea Lanterns: The ocean monument blocks, especially the sea lanterns, had unique and attractive designs.
- Updated for 1.21 Features: The pack includes content from trial chambers and other newer updates, so it still works in modern Minecraft.
- Simple and Soft UI: The clean user interface and menus match the rest of the gentle, pastel theme of the pack.
Cons
- Mob Textures Broken by Add-On: Pigs, cows, and chickens still show vanilla models due to the Spring to Life bug, ruining immersion.
- Too Similar to Default: Many blocks and mobs look very close to Minecraft’s base textures with only slight colour edits or blur added.
- Inconsistent Blur and Colour Use: Some textures are over-blurred while others remain sharp, creating a lack of visual balance.
- Copy-Paste Weapons and Armour: Several tools and armour sets reuse similar or identical textures, lacking variety or polish.
- Hostile Mobs and Biomes Feel Unchanged: The Nether, End, and many mobs like the Wither and Blaze look too similar to vanilla, missing the fantasy theme.
