Daz Man Interviews HeroPixel Games!
Q1: Can you tell us a bit about your journey into Minecraft and how you became a Marketplace creator?
I’ve been putting a lot of time into Minecraft for many years. Early on I started a build team, and we worked on projects for servers and YouTubers. Over time, with the right portfolio, experience and connections, that path led us to becoming official Marketplace partners in 2021.
Q2: What inspired your latest creation on the Marketplace, and what was the creative process behind it?
Our latest project, 3D Weapons, was inspired directly by community feedback. Players really loved our 3D Armor pack, so we listened closely to what they enjoyed and what they wanted more of. We decided to put even more time into quality and detail, creating a fresh pack full of unique weapons that’s coming to the Marketplace soon. The creative process was all about turning that feedback into models and textures, testing everything in-game, and refining until the weapons felt just right.
Q3: Walk us through your typical workflow when developing a Marketplace map or content pack - from idea to finished product.
We usually start with brainstorming and concepts, then move to create assets: modeling, animations and textures. After that comes coding Add-Ons, lots of testing and polishing until everything feels right. Finally, we go through quality checks before releasing it on the Marketplace.
Q4: What tools, software, or plugins do you rely on the most, and why?
We mostly use Blockbench for modeling, Photoshop, Aseprite and other graphic tools for textures and standard tools like Visual Studio Code and Bridge for Add-Ons. Discord is our main tool to coordinate, share feedback, and keep projects on track.
Q5: What are the biggest challenges you face when creating for the Marketplace, and how do you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges is making sure everything meets the Marketplace’s technical and quality standards. It can take a lot of time and testing. Another challenge is always coming up with fresh ideas in such a big community. We overcome it by working as a team, learning from feedback and constantly trying out new things until it feels right.
Q6: How do you balance creativity with the limitations and guidelines of the Minecraft Marketplace?
On one hand, it definitely pushes us forward. We learn to find new solutions and improve our work. But it’s also a hurdle sometimes, since we have to invest more time in quality checks and reviews before anything gets published. In the end though, that extra effort makes the projects better for players.
Q7: What’s your opinion on the current state of the Minecraft Marketplace, and how do you see it evolving over the next few years?
The Marketplace has grown a lot and offers so much variety now, which is awesome for players and creators. I think in the next few years we’ll see even more focus on quality, bigger collaborations and new ways to play with Add-Ons and features. It’s only going to get more exciting
Q8: What’s next for you? Any upcoming releases, ideas, or collaborations we should watch out for?
Right now we’re putting more time into Texture Packs and Add-Ons, really focusing on quality. You can expect more zombies, more cuteness and also some action-packed weapon projects. There are a few exciting projects on the way. Definitely stay tuned!
Q9: Do you have any advice for aspiring Minecraft creators who want to get onto the Marketplace?
Try out lots of different ideas around Minecraft, work on and join different projects and keep expanding your portfolio. The more you explore, the more you grow as a creator.
